on a wing & a prayer

I know my all about Pretty! posts have not been happening very often, (don't like the negative term bad blogger :) so let's just say I`ve been busy in my offline life these last few years, lots of personal things going down. After being on disability for 2 years I was laid off my job of 16 years, you know the typical story these days, a large company bought our technology let go of the people, so much for supporting our economy and workers here?? Anyway I digress... with all of these happenings I've been trying to "always~look~on~the bright side of life" whistling~fufu~fufufufufufu yup that's as good as I can whistle :) singing that Monty Python tune in my head as I type this.

So I decided to jump in and open my own brick & mortar shop in Coaldale and it has been so much work that I haven't had much time to work on my art or blog on all about Pretty! I have been creating lots of decor items for the shop but dream of the day when I'll be creating all day long in the studio both art & my repurposed/restyled creations for the shop. I also hope to be teaching more and more workshops in the evenings & weekends at la TaDa! I will start blogging more when I have new work to share.

So I just wanted to let you know I'm still alive, working hard and I look forward to creating again and sharing my art with you as soon as I can.  THANKS SO MUCH! to so many who are encouraging me to get back to studio as well as supporting me personally and my shop.

A DREAM COME TRUE!

Well I've been dreaming about being able to create for a living & opening my own shop for 20 years now and it's finally happening, thank you Jesus!!! I haven't been great at blogging over the last couple of years, I've been though the ringer a bit - still homesick for Vancouver after a big move to tiny Coaldale, loss of my Gramma & great friend Marg, loss of my beloved cat Sammy, discovered my sweet dog Bella has a heart condition, major structural damage to my home because of flooding last spring (need a whole new foundation, my house is slowly collapsing), recent loss of my job of 16 years after battling 2 years of major depression & fibromyalgia and it was very hard to keep my faith through it all but God gave me the grace to get through and He has restored my hope.

I'm excited to get back to work as well as creating and I'm looking forward to life again!

My new shop is opening March 1st so I'm crazy busy now getting ready but I will be blogging more as I get back to creating and will also write more details about my la TaDa!

I would like to thanks everyone who came out for the all about Pretty! sale at my cottage in the country. We truly appreciate fellow Albertans supporting local women entrepreneurs. Your business is greatly appreciated and this is truly from our hearts. We can't compete with "made in China" prices but we hope our products have more value because they are unique finds and one of a kind creations that we have put our heart & soul in to. Farm Chicks! - more pictures

Happy Friday! Here are some more Farm Chicks pictures for your enjoyment. I was so excited the first morning, running around to my favourite booths, trying to shop, beat the crazy crowd, take pictures all at once plus just taking in all the beauty, it's a bit overwhelming. I was a bit, shall we say “hyper” “keyed up” “frenzied” maybe just a notch below “hysterical”!!! What can I say, I'm a little passionate about shopping! When I got back to the hotel and downloaded my pictures most of them were blurry. I slowed down on Sunday, had a great time visiting with vendors and blog friends, new and old and this time I took a deep breath and held steady and took more pictures that turned out, yeah! I would like to thank the lovely Isabel for lending me some of her great pictures. She’s a much better picture taker then me :-)

Farm Chicks FabLushNess!!! ~ Come Junk With Us SHoPFunWowNess!!!

Better late then never I say. So it's not January but I'm making a new resolution to blog more faithfully. So unless I'm flat up in bed sick or I meet Mr. Wonderful and he sweeps me off my feet to Paris to get married and take me shopping I'll do my best. For about a year I've been terrible at posting faithfully even though I have fibromyalgia and it’s been pretty rough this last year I've decided I’m not going to let it get the better of me anymore. I'm going to pray, dream, create, blog and shop my way to better health. So even though it's been over a month since I was in Spokane I just couldn't go without posting about one of my favourite trips, WOW, another amazing Farm Chick Antique Show.

It's still as exciting as my very first time there 3 years ago with Mom and Auntie. When we walked in the front door I was so awestruck and told them I'm sure when I die and go to heaven this is what it's going to look like. I look forward to this all year long, it always inspires me and I meet so many FRIENDLY, genuine, creative ladies!

This year was better then ever because I tried something new, my cousin Susan and I joined up with the one and only “Come Junk With Us” Junk Junket and we had an amazing time. Such a FUN group of gals, we had so much in common it was non-stop talk, talk, talk & tons of laughter! After losing my job earlier this year and battling depression I wasn't sure if I should make the trip but I'm sure glad I did. I felt my deep sadness lift that weekend and I'm feeling more hopeful about life then I have in a long time. It was lovely visiting with old blog friends as well as meeting new friends, many who are making a living doing their art - hey that's my dream too :) so it was delightfully inspiring of them to encourage me and send me back home with some hope and a few of my dreams back in tact.
